It took me a couple of frustrating hours or so to configure samba (editing the samba.conf file and testing) so that I could share my home directory, with music and video, with my other computers, and share my printer. There are several issues here, of course. Directories were shared. But I’m not there yet.

Elgg is a very cool community-building and e-learning tool – it’s got the social networking combined with features like forums, etc. And further, there is an amazing integration of Elgg with Mediawiki.

As a result, online revenue originating from direct mail integration increased from 12% to 28% from 2009 to 2010! Key issues of integration included: Keep a consistent message in front of donors. Though not all campaigns were replicated online, major testing was replicated. Online revenue from 2009 to 2010 increased 148%.

In my tests it was buggy (some parts of it just didn’t work), and the interface was still a bit crude. It’s quite interesting, and it deals with the audio over phone issue (which is a major snag) by dispensing with two-way audio entirely, and just using one-way audio. And, boy did I just fail the Richard Stallman test!)
