2021 was an eventful year at NTEN as we continued to promote, work towards, and model equitable practices internally and externally. This year, implementing the new concurrent and holistic committee application process resulted in a more accessible and streamlined experience with more community members on NTEN committees than ever before.

Technology used to be, as Jane Messeck of Microsoft Community Affairs puts it, transactional: it was about moving a document from point A to point B faster, making it easier to store and find things, making sure everyone could print. Technology was about efficiency. . Of course, technology is still about efficiency.

The purpose of the resulting document is to entice small nonprofit leaders to consider how they might use the PI in their own work.

In 2020, tech nonprofit NTEN announced that they were pulling their advertising from Facebook due to its data-collection and content-moderation policies. Here are suggestions for a few ways to do this: If your organization’s internal social media content policies and procedures haven’t been documented, document them now.

NTEN's blog discusses the details of the break-in and lessons we should learn from it. In 2011, NTEN, with support from the Knight Foundation , convened the CTOs for Good forum and conducted follow-up interviews with the participants in order to document and share the group’s experiences and challenges.
