When IT Director Karl Hedstrom joined NTEN in 2006, a few employees had been working remotely, thanks to the Cloud. Kimberlee Roth.

I got hear the legends in the nptech sector in the early days talk about their work and was inspired. The photo above is of Rob Stuart in 1997 at a meeting in Montana to create a plan at what eventually became NTEN – thoughtfully documented in photos by Gavin Clabaugh and included in the nptech history wiki.

At NTEN, it is incredibly important to us that the community we serve is an active part of our work. Thanks to skills I picked up at NTC, I was able to better survey our community to find service gaps and develop social interventions to improve their health; redevelop our website with the latest usability research in mind, turn our drab social media policy into a "living document", and train staff in best practices.

In 2011, NTEN, with support from the Knight Foundation , convened the CTOs for Good forum and conducted follow-up interviews with the participants in order to document and share the group’s experiences and challenges. The group addressed a number of issues over the course of the year, many of which are reflected in this white paper.

Also make sure you capture the formats in which the information is stored, including paper documents. Lastly, make certain those locations employ some access control measure such as a locked door or cabinet for mobile media and paper documents, or logical access controls such as network folder or file permissions.

Most of us now host all of our applications and our data and our email systems documents/spreadsheets, etc. The basic protocols and roles of successful camps were documented in real time and shared in the cloud.
