I'm thinking about the use of video or vlog posts coupled with fundraising widgets as well as some other possible ways (ad revenue from web videos?) When I wrote about video blogging and nonprofits way back in September, I discovered the Have Money Will Vlog (see their video here ), and it's an excellent example of what Peter Dietz calls micro-philthranthropy.

I've been experimenting with vlogging and looking for examples by nonprofit organizations. There are a handful of emerging examples of vlogging in nonprofit land that have moved past some of the barriers. A few folks responded to my query of the vlogging community , a community that hopes to spread vlogging far and wide. Have to mention Andy Carvin's vlog posts , too. vlog to showcase their annual conference [link].

Part III: Blogs, Podcasting and Vlogs September 27, 2006 When I start out these series, I seem to have an idea in hand about how to organize them, which, invariably, gets rearranged in the course of writing. So, here’s the post about Blogs, and their follow ons: podcasting and vlogging. Their natural follow-ons, podcasting and vlogging are not as ubiquitous, or as frequently used in the nonprofit technology space. As for podcasting and vlogging.

At the conference, I attended a session on video blogging with Ryanne Hodson and was inspired to go play in a vlog sandbox. I was also curious to see whether there were nonprofits using vlogs to promote their causes. Now almost a year later, there is renewed interest in vlogging and nonprofits. There has been online conversation during the past couple of weeks on vlog list , Netsquared , TechSoup and Blogher.

On the Vlogging list, there is an interesting thread on Citizen Journalism as part of a class at Temple University Film and Media Arts. She assigned students to watch some Citizen Journalism vlogs and post their criticism. " In the thread, one person pointed to Verdi's Video Workshop where people are giving reflective criticism on the vlog genre. Technorati Tags: vlog , community_arts

Lisa Williams showed her vlog from Blogher at the Berkman Thursday night blogging group and during the walk to dinner, I got to ask her how she did it. Anina, who vlogged me at blogher, left a comment and so did Village Girl , a khmer vlogger, who told me on the phone last week that vlogging was easy. And Viola -- a vlog post. Looks like I'm not the only blogher inspired to vlog. Lisa Canter posted her first vlog too!

I wonder if they considered vlogging? They do have some video clips and flash movies, but these aren't exactly vlogging. Maybe I missed it, but why aren't they vlogging it? (I given the amount of time it has taken me to just master the basics of vlogging, let alone integrate into my work flow) I think that of all the nonprofit organizations, arts organizations could probably do a spectacular job of vlogging - especially the Walker.

I wrote a blurb on Netsquared about the HumaniNet's Sim Day event. Luckily Seth Mazow from Interplast , who attended the event, not only posted a recap but also captured a few words on video from Gregg Swanson, Humaninet's ED. Keep an eye on their blog for more information. Makes me wonder about whether or not the nonprofits attending this event would be the right users for Ken Thompson's Swarm Teams

Miro Logo. Since March, I've been commuting between Boston and San Francisco. One of the best things about the commute is Virgin America airlines in flight experience. The food is decent, the is leg room in economy, it's clean, and there is wifi. But the wifi isn't the best part, everytime I fly I end up meeting folks who work in social media. Last night, there was a couple setting next to me who once airborne, opened their laptops and started talking.
