Evaluate your content, facilitation, and logistical skills against participant evaluations. If time is available, also do a plus/delta exercise with participants as a close out to the session. Measure, evaluate, reflect, and improve. Others have also documented and used the technique or taught others how to do it.

Someone asked what the definition of a KPI was, and since I noticed that Tom Kelly who is an expert in evaluation was following the chat, I asked him for a definition. These are standard types of “question probes&# and active listening that you would do if you were interviewing someone or moderating a focus group.

Going beyond content delivery, I also use a lot of participatory and hands-on learning techniques to help students gain a deeper understanding. Circles without tables, just chairs helps promote group discussion. More importantly, after every class I facilitate, I do a debrief with students as part of evaluating the training.
