Going beyond content delivery, I also use a lot of participatory and hands-on learning techniques to help students gain a deeper understanding. As part of our class, students composed a question and recorded a video related to their area of study and sent it off to Davos. So far, two of my students have had their questions answered.

Thirteen students produced three projects that layered participatory activities onto an exhibition of artwork from the permanent collection of the Henry Art Gallery. This winter, I once again taught a graduate class in the University of Washington's Museology program.

This is the question I've been toying with this week. For me, Downward Draw provided an unusual opportunity to examine the more casual end of the participatory spectrum. The spectators weren't passive; instead, they were active participants in a different activity: looking, evaluating, discussing the thing in front of them.

Instead of writing a post and soliciting comments (my typical approach), I used an online polling tool to create a simple game where you could read short provocations about questionable revenue sources and give each source an ethical thumbs-up or down. On platforms with many participatory options, more people are more active.
