This question is a byproduct of the reality that most participatory projects have poorly articulated value. But the best participatory projects don't suffer from this problem, because they solicit visitors' contributions toward a very specific outcome. The project is designed to scale. I wish I had time to watch all the videos and code them for their content and style, but I don't (graduate research project, anyone?).
