Public libraries are some of our favorites. If you haven’t been to your library lately, check it out! We recently spoke with Joyce Fehl of the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, Maine. Joyce is the development and marketing manager for the library, which serves both Brunswick and the smaller community of Harpswell.

In addition to traditional questions and answers, they embedded instructional videos and provided a participant resource library. A phenomenal example is the game board developed by Crossroads School for their Crossroads 5K and Family Fun Day event. This type of fundraising appeal puts the FUN in fundraising!

I wouldn't exactly call Robyn O'Brien's book, The Unhealthy Truth: How Our Food Is Making Us Sick and What We Can Do About It , fun, but it's definitely eye-opening.

Collecting petitions Last week I stood outside of my local library collecting signatures to save libraries in Oakland. We're facing potential closures of 14 neighborhood libraries, and reduced services at the remaining four. Visiting my hometown library I probably wouldn't be who I am today without the library.

Of course libraries are all about education in its various forms. I have to say that this turned out to be a pretty time consuming piece to write because the games are pretty fun and surprisingly high quality.
