We're going to raise another $10,000 (matched dollar for dollar by Convio) for the NTC scholarship campaign this year -- and send another 57 people down to Hot-lanta. Convio released their 2010 Online Nonprofit Benchmark Study in March, based on results from nearly 500 clients. As Convio found, average gift size declined. I t's the season for a slew of reports analyzing last year's online giving results. Its findings included: 14% growth in online giving overall.

I looked over Allan Benamer’s post on the Convio and Kintera initiatives, I looked harder at the Convio Open and Kintera Connect docs, and I also had a chat with some Kintera folk. Allan is right – the Kintera API is more comprehensive, and provides for more flexibility than the Convio API. I have a few comments.

At first blush, although Kintera officially got out the door first, announcing Connect weeks ago, and delivering the APIs and docs on Friday, their play is a good start, but Convio, announcing Open tomorrow, appears to be ahead in terms of providing real openness. Convio has, seemingly, gotten some serious Web 2.0 apps out there.

In Kintera, Blackbaud certainly got it’s hands on a platform with pretty good open APIs (Allan Benamer argues they are better than Convio’s.) And how will Convio react? Will they continue in that direction? It will be interesting to watch what happens with Kintera, and especially, what happens with their APIs.

They released their Convio/Salesforce connector on Salesforce.com AppExchange. at 6:40 pm Thanks Michelle for the Convio props! MPower Open , an enterprise CRM, is both open source, and has great open APIs. They also launched their blog.

Email Conversions: When Convio's clients sent emails, users opened them 20 percent of the time, but only 3.3 Their report will include data from organizations that use tools besides Convio.
