Convio has released a new online fundraising benchmark report that is based on data from 600 of Convio’s nonprofit clients from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. The study reports: Positive year-over-year growth in all of the key areas of online success. Compared to 2007, results for online fundraising were up 14 percent, email file growth was up 28 percent, and Web site traffic was up 20 percent. MORE

I received an embargoed press release in my email about Convio's Open Initiative. The most recent announcement is from Convio, which launched Convio Open. Since Convio typically is used by larger nonprofit organizations and institutions, does that mean that integration of social media marketing strategies has tipped the tuna in the nonprofit sector? Also, I wonder what happens to the smaller and medium size nonprofits that can't afford the hefty cost of Convio's tools? MORE
I just got back from 3 fabulous days in Baltimore at the Convio Summit user conference. This year, there were enough nonprofit organizations already on Common Ground to warrant a session or two aimed at users, rather than just to sell existing Convio clients to the application as was found at previous Summits. Over the past several months I've had the pleasure of working with Convio's Engineering team on a number of new features for Luminate Online. The tech jargon (sorry, I tried): with the Winter release, Convio's Open API will support the Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header. I received an embargoed press release in my email about Convio's Open Initiative. The most recent announcement is from Convio, which launched Convio Open. Since Convio typically is used by larger nonprofit organizations and institutions, does that mean that integration of social media marketing strategies has tipped the tuna in the nonprofit sector? Also, I wonder what happens to the smaller and medium size nonprofits that can't afford the hefty cost of Convio's tools?

Ever wonder who the man (or woman) behind the curtain is on your favorite Convio powered site (sort of like the Wizard of Oz but in a less ruby slippers are more online strategy kind of way)? To help the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (a nonprofit medical research organization) find the answers, the Convio Go! Establish a clear pathway to participate To keep the momentum going, OMRF engaged email recipients further with a brief eCard reminding them to register to win and inviting them to forward funny content (in this case uber-cool eCards which OMRF designed based on a Convio template) promoting the campaign to family and friends. The 2011 Convio Summit is 14 days away. There will be tons of resources and support being provided from Convio Community, Free ‘Do It Yourself’ campaign kits to getting support on Twitter. One of the best studies of how nonprofits are using online communications is Convio’s annual report. Here’s a link to download the Convio Online Marketing Nonprofit Benchmark Index™ Study (in PDF The report, which was released today, is well worth a read. Here are a few of the key findings from their report: Online fundraising continues to grow. Overall, 79 percent of organizations included in the report raised more in 2010 than 2009.

The inference here is that the quick and abrupt departure of David Crooke was payback for the Convio security scandal last year.

It looks like Convio’s CEO, Gene Austin, had a talk with Fortune Magazine’s Jon Fortt. The most telling quote is here: It's not like Convio it trying to be the next Google (GOOG). Look to see that paragraph referenced a lot if Convio is pitching its products to you… As for the prospects of Convio returning to raise more capital via an IPO… Austin says Convio will give an IPO another go when financial markets are more stable (â€not up 200, down 200?),

I just got back from 3 fabulous days in Baltimore at the Convio Summit user conference. This year, there were enough nonprofit organizations already on Common Ground to warrant a session or two aimed at users, rather than just to sell existing Convio clients to the application as was found at previous Summits. I am so excited about the direction Convio is taking with Common Ground.

The nonprofit community was stunned yesterday when Blackbaud purchased long time rival Convio. According to Blackbaud President Marc Chardon, “Combining Convio and Blackbaud is expected to help create one of the largest SaaS vendors with over $440 million in trailing twelve months pro forma revenue.” ” So what does this acquisition mean for the nonprofit community, in particular for the 1500+ customers that use Convio?

Convio has released a new online fundraising benchmark report that is based on data from 600 of Convio's nonprofit clients from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. The study reports: Positive year-over-year growth in all of the key areas of online success. Compared to 2007, results for online fundraising were up 14 percent, email file growth was up 28 percent, and Web site traffic was up 20 percent.
