In 2009 , students built a participatory exhibit from scratch. Thirteen students produced three projects that layered participatory activities onto an exhibition of artwork from the permanent collection of the Henry Art Gallery. This winter, I once again taught a graduate class in the University of Washington's Museology program.

The Washington Post covered the MAH's transformation as part of an article about museums engaging new audiences. Audiences of all backgrounds found ways to connect with museums as it presented exhibitions with the help of foster youth, migrant farmers, roller-derby girls, mushroom hunters, surfers and incarcerated artists, among others.

Our team focused this year on just three things: making the museum more comfortable, hosting new participatory events, and partnering wherever possible. but I didn't have numbers to back it up.
