The Leading Change Summit was more intimate (several hundred people), participatory and interactive, intense, and stimulating. And while anything you do the first time will not be perfect and in many cases stressful, in the end it was a good experience. What makes for a good team experience is a good on-boarding process.

This past July, artist Guillermo Gómez proposed to restore a piece of art. Both objects and art-objects would be part of this continuing transformation and evolution.

Most of my work contracts involve a conversation that goes something like this: "We want to find ways to make our institution more participatory and lively." If new programs are sufficiently different from the traditional ones, they may be more effective as standalone program tracks than as gateways to the traditional experience.

In contrast, cultural institutions often implicitly discourage conversation, particularly loud and boisterous talk, and when conversation is encouraged it is often highly structured around a particular topic or program.

I joined the dialogue this weekend with an op-ed echoing Elaine Heumann Gurian''s powerful call for the "museum of ''and''" - a museum that includes and values multiple experiences and approaches. On June 4, we opened The Tech Virtual Test Zone , a new 2000 sq ft gallery at The Tech Museum of Innovation featuring exhibits on the theme of art, film, and music that were originally developed in Second Life by a community of creative amateurs. On many levels, The Tech Virtual experiment was a success. It also focused the experience.

It launched in October of 2007 with a very simple and understandable idea: to produce a global map of pieces of art made with stones on beaches.
