I am not sure whether this was planned by the artist or an general artifact of the ubiquity of multimedia mobile devices, but I have never seen a show where people were so openly capturing images and video.

Think of the classes where you learned the most. In this case, I find the most interesting ones to be made by artists. I was at the National Portrait Gallery in London , and there was a peephole to look at an anamorphic image. But, to me, the biggest difference is about how learning is connected to feelings. That’s huge.

I think about how hesitant I was to become an artist, because I didn't see role models, and even to this day how hard it is for me sometimes to find peers who are women of color, because of how systematically they are pushed out. The post-its would be used as the source material for visitors' creative responses, allowing them to get their hands on the images--manipulating and modifying the works into something new. The "On the Edge" activity, which encouraged visitors to extend the images on the post-its beyond the frame was by far the most popular prompt.
