Nina Simon, Lauren Bentua, and many others would host us in the halls of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art. One of the ways I have thought about this in my own life (as a person of color) is “how do I thrive in a system I am actively trying to overthrow”, it seems counterintuitive. Many of you are probably old museumcampers.

Nestled in a forest of high-rise apartment buildings, this small museum connects children and families with contemporary art.

In 2010, the Children''s Museum of Tacoma was getting ready to move to a new, bigger facility. When they moved to the new facility, they decided they wanted to radically expand access to the museum, AND increase revenue. The Children''s Museum of Tacoma is two years into their "pay as you will" model, and it looks like a success.

I've long admired this museum for its all-encompassing commitment to community co-creation , and the visit was a kind of pilgrimage to their new site (opened in 2008).
