The online facilitation list recently had a thread about choosing wikis. I have the great joy of working with Nancy White as guest editor for the KM4 Journal Issue on Technology Stewardship. The work of the editors is done on a wiki. I'm also reminded of Andy Robert's wiki on wiki facilitation.

Dokuwiki – my woefully neglected and out of date technology wiki is on Dokuwiki. It’s a wiki, but everything is stored in files instead of a database. The annoying part is that it is one more wiki markup to learn (I wish SOMEONE would finally agree to make a wiki markup standard!!).

You can think of it as a multi-project version of Trac , which is a fabulous ticketing/wiki system that we were initially going to go with. And the wiki is nice. We found, and have chosen to use Redmine for our project management/ticketing system. Like Basecamp, Redmine has document storage and messaging systems.
