One of my stops was to the attend the Sixth Gathering of Social Entrepreneurs, organized by the Social Enterprise Alliance , and held in Milwaukee. Here's an article from the Milwaukee press on the event: When non-profits cash in I just returned from a great trip. It was great to have roughly 600 people all getting the energy of social enterprise. The biggest supporter of the conference was Steve Case's Foundation (the founder of AOL).

I hadn't seen a city so focused on Fair Trade and social causes, but the Oxfam offices may have been a giveaway.

And today my dad wrote this letter to the editor of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel, the local paper. I want to tell you a bit about my parents. Bill and Beth live in Wisconsin, in the house where I grew up. They live in a pretty conservative world–Wisconsin is the birthplace of the Republican party, they know some real John Birchers, and until his retirement last year my dad was a CEO of a manufacturing company. Not the most liberal environment.
