Over the past two weeks, we've been reporting on CDI Chile's Mobile Telecentre, a project to reconnect individuals and NGOs in Chile after the recent earthquake ( first update , second update ). Each USD 1,000 raised will allow the telecentre to serve another city in Chile. The idea behind the project is elegant: the telecentre allows people to reconnect with loved ones with whom they haven't communicated since the earthquake.

After their hugely successful text messaging campaign for Haiti , the Red Cross has set up a similar campaign for Chile: simply text "CHILE" to 90999 to make a ten-dollar donation. Oxfam sent a team to Chile yesterday to survey the damage and recommend a rebuilding plan.
