October 15th was Blog Action Day , a day for bloggers, podcasters and vloggers to write about and raise awareness about an issue. For the month of September, Natasha Maw read and blogged in an effort to create awareness, and raise funds for Darfur. She read 31 books and raised $1,1136.60. The theme for this year was poverty.

My fellow BlogHer co-editor, Beth Kanter , has launched a fundraising campaign using ChipIn. Between now and December 31st, Beth is working to raise $750 for the Sharing Foundation , an NGO that works with local officials, orphanages, and NGOs in Cambodia to improve children's lives. 750 will cover her college fees and living expenses.
