I was so excited that I got the sharing features to work properly that I didn’t even think about tracking. I was able to scrounge some stats by using Tweetmeme and bit.ly We didn’t have a unique URL for Facebook, and we didn’t have Google Analytics tracking codes set up on the web version of the email. Don’t forget that.

Qui - for clients that are larger, we set up media citation reports (like a word doc with titles and links and relevant info about the mentions and how they should respond). Think about which things you really need to track and measure those, not everything you could possibly track. How much time is spent listening?

There are actually quite a few – even ones that track the flow of money to politicians. Take a look at the kind of data they keep by looking up your own info. In my office, we have a TV displaying all the stats we can think of, and it helps our team make decisions based on this data. There is an API for that.
