In a world with a multitude of social media platforms already out there on the web, why would the world use one more dedicated to support nonprofits? There’s no denying the power of social media and its ability to harness the power of the internet. The decision to launch a new social network, namely Flixxaid , was obvious.

When I was in Minnesota, one of the questions I got was about blogging and social networking policies. Now, I swear I remember seeing something from Easter Seals or another nonprofit on a listserv that mentioned either social networking policy or blogging policy. How do organizations create policies?

The other day, Matt Sharp shared this link to a social media policy generator called the Social Media Policy Tool. It asks you 12 questions mostly having to do with control and then spits out the biolerplate for your policy. Here's the social media policy I created for Beth's Blog.

I put out a query for examples of blogging and social network/media policies for nonprofits and got lots of good examples. Donny Peterson couldn't resist the urge to edit someone else's blogging policy before sharing a copy his policy. That got me thinking about the process for developing the policy.
