That blog grew into Outdoor Afro , a nationwide leadership network helping Black people engage with the outdoors, learn about the Black history of public spaces, and support conservation efforts. The first post I wrote in 2009 was about a perspective-shifting trip I had taken with a local bike group of people who mostly looked like me.

We tested different angles on how to present the Museum’s mission in the context of Pi Day to see what would resonate most with folks, as well as images and taglines for the campaign. This pilot was able to bring in more than 5,000 visitors.
