Teach something new. Praise when compliments are earned. Be decisive. Say "Thank You" and sincerely mean it. Show and demonstrate trust. Communicate clearly. Listen carefully. Work hard and lend a hand when deadlines are tight. Show respect for everyone on your team. Follow through when you say you will.

That's because, according to co-authors Krissi and Dan Barr , dogs can teach humans a lot about leadership. Barr : Perhaps the most important lesson we learned was the power of an idea. Because 44 percent of U.S. households with at least one dog according to ASPCA, many of us don't have to go far to learn about leadership.
