Nearly 18,000 people participated in the 24-hour, online fundraising event, raising more than $2 million to benefit 1,200 local nonprofits. I am very glad to see that the Greater Washington event incorporates training into the planning process to boost the capacity of all participating organizations.

In our 2020 Navigating the Unknown Report , we found that over 50% of nonprofits pivoted to virtual events last year. And, we know a lot more about how to host virtual events and engage an online audience than we did last year. This includes online fundraisers, virtual events, and even text fundraising campaigns.

The concept was genius — providing an app and free cell phone to the individuals in exchange for filling out the surveys. Completing the survey would get them more cell phone time. The concept included enlisting a telco partner who would provide the phones and data cards. My Nonprofit Needs A Data Nerd!
