The people were of all ages--moms with babies strapped to their fronts, six year-olds using skillsaws, pre-teens building robots, teenagers doing homework. That taught us a lot.

Many people mentioned the intelligent design/evolution debate, raising examples of angry homeschoolers and religious groups. It let her know that people were reading it and cared. There's a lot of great content in them. The way we think about science—and possibly the way we do it—is connected to our political leanings.
