Early in the life of this blog, I stumbled into a taxonomy of how social platforms work that I call the hierarchy of participation. The social stigma is too great, and the tools don’t help you cross those barriers. I’ve argued that you can only achieve level five engagement by moving “through” the intermediate levels.
