There have now been a couple comments on this blog to the effect of: "Visitors already create content in museums through their thoughts and social interactions." Create portals and applications such that people can communicate and share when they are neither temporally nor spatially co-located. Great point. Smart point. Smart point.

The 3D space where this virtual symposium will take place is a private version of the Second Life platform that Linden Labs and NMC have created, called the Hakone Project. Most of the stunning visuals are shot by Scott himself (he says if anyone shoots 1,000 photos, at least one will be a powerful image).

They even created a Facebook application. We also created the Brooklyn Graffiti Group. That’s why we’re not in Second Life. #1, We look at the equation and say maybe Second Life isn’t the right fit for us. Maybe the Tech will have that with your new project in Second Life.

84% of people comment, 82% message others, and 39% create content. So far, the only real strategy to analyze besides creating groups is the Causes application. On Second Life : Tim and Carie both say stay away. Funny, another negative note on Second Life. Carie opened with an intro to social media.
