Email open rates declined 1%, compared to a 3% decrease between 2006 and 2007. Open rates can be an unreliable metric due to spam filters, preview panes and image blocking -- all of which make it hard to know whether someone is actually opening (or reading) an email. This is down from 19% in 2007 and 21% in 2006.
