It got the seeds planted in my head that this is an altruistic community, it's an educated community. That is not what service should be about. We raised around $60,000 doing very little.

I got involved in some of the anti-globalization work at that time and my group, Art and Revolution, was doing a lot of education and outreach through dance and giant puppets and theater and doing a lot of tours to mobilize people to come to Seattle. It's all about collaboration. I think some people are modeling that quite well.
