You know more about the cause. Just like the assumption about the tools, it is incredibly valuable to maintain the position that you (read: your organization, if not you personally, smartypants) know more, have more access to information about, and are more closely following news related to your cause and work than the community.

Videos can be used to do anything from providing useful training information to compelling the viewer to act on behalf of a cause. However, whether serious or humorous, videos should feel authentic and true to the organization and its cause. Videos should be clear to understand if employing dialogue or music.

Flickr Photo Birthday Remix Contest. I set up a flickr group, uploaded some instructions and some photos from the past half-century, and invited people to celebrate. The winner would receive $50 to their favorite cause or charity. Many of the contributors are flickr community members or dare I say addicts.

I actually have a repertoire of stories, but one of them is about Michaela Hackner ( Kalabird.) I connected with her through her amazing photos of Cambodia on Flickr when I was covering the Cambodian blogosphere for Global Voices over five years ago. to help promote awareness of homelessness in America.
