A couple of good articles about how nonprofits are using myspace and some dos and don'ts this week. I have a myspace site but I haven't done any deep experimination. MySpace and Political Campaigns Joshua Levy at the Personal Democracy Forum wrote about the use of MySpace for political campaigns and by advocacy organizations.

MySpace estimates that 50% of its Website traffic will be mobile within 24 months. All the major social media sites have mobile versions of their Websites: m.twitter.com , m.facebook.com , m.youtube.com , m.myspace.com , m.flickr.com , m.linkedin.com , etc. The Web and how people use it is transforming quickly.

MySpace, back when it was cool. We don’t use it like we use Facebook, for advocacy, fundraising, and relationship building. Everything we do online (our website, email program, advertising, social) is tied to our goals of advocacy and fundraising, or some other kind of lead generation. tools for online advocacy. We wanted something different; not just another MySpace profile. This was mostly a myspace campaign. We pointed people to youtube to watch the videos and to our website to participate in the advocacy. We had taken the time to build up a strong following on our hsus myspace page ???

The LAF goes beyond a mere presence on social networks, it has taken a maven approach, engaging deeply with supporters with a regularly updated blog , MySpace , Facebook , YouTube , and Twitter presences. October 2nd is LIVESTRONG Day- a day we set aside each year to focus on cancer survivors, advocacy efforts and community participation.
