I'm incredibly proud of all the staff, trustees, volunteers, collaborators, visitors, and members who have made this happen. We just started to try to live up to that vision, partnership by partnership, activity by activity. We started the summer with no money and a strategic vision to be a thriving, central gathering place.

This past weekend, in conjunction with our exhibition about Ze Frank's current participatory project, A Show , we hosted " Ze Frank Weekend "--a quickie summer camp of workshops, activities, presentations, and lots of hugging. The activities had a really low barrier to entry.

I think the reason we hold onto the idea generation part is because it's fun, not because it's the activity in which we have the most specialized expertise. People who work with non-professionals on participatory projects often talk about finding "neutral" sites for meetings or meeting on their (the non-professionals') territory.

We each have experience running participatory grantmaking and decision-making processes online using different platforms.
