The event also included plenary speakers, including a provocative talk about data methods from Alexandra Samuels and cross-track sessions from traditional panels to unconference. The culmination of these two and half very intense days was an Idea Accelerator Lab. Pivots can make the difference between a successful session and disaster.

It's structured as an unconference, where the 300 or so folks showing up design the conference program of roughly 70 sessions in about an hour the first night. Many cool people attend, and the quality of the conversations is terrific. That's why conversations can cut right to the issue that people are debating.

I found a few tech sessions that were relevant to the purposes of TechSoup, and as is always the case, I collected the business cards of some intelligent people doing good work. As a relative newbie here at Forum One, I wasn't sure what to expect when as I headed to my very first "unconference." The unconference was about connecting government managers and staff, public engagement experts, online tool developers, and citizens to encourage shared insights, decisions, and actions in government.
