You have to ask, how is polling the audience and seeing the aggregate results helping people learn? Here how collecting data and displaying aggregate might enhance learning: (Add in the comments if you think I missed anything). Participants took the assessment and we saw the aggregate results. In other words, to what end?

blogchat which is facilitated by @mackcollier and uses wthashtag to aggregate the conversation. In my initial analysis of mega list of 90 Foundations that Tweet , I did not look at hashtags. For example, the #givelist tag aggregated all the suggestions from Twitter and then created this site. This takes some facilitation.

One question I'm wondering myself - what does effective wiki facilitation really look like - literally. I know there are many wiki patterns - how they evolve, are they are facilitated, what works, what doesn't -- just read Stewart Mader's book. I didn't facilitate it, but I participated.
