Here’s a few reflections about presenting remotely in locations outside of the US. This method was used because the facilitator needed to speak into the mic so I could hear the questions. We used Google Hangout because they found it was more robust for video, audio, and screen sharing in that remote location.

I designed and facilitated one panel, I’ve Found My Free Agent, Now What? This year I not only facilitated a conversation in the room, but integrated visual facilitation techniques to spark insights and capture learnings. Also, the element of fun, more interaction, and opportunities for sharing in smaller groups.

Designing and facilitating training (not matter the topic) is one of my passions and why I blog about it on a regular basis. As a facilitator, you have to watch the participants body language and look for the “slump,” and if you notice people getting tired, interject some movement. Photo: Americans for the Arts.

Someone on the call had moderator access and was able to flip the slides (I had them memorized) and they also read any of the questions in the chat line to me. First, my preferred method of instruction is to be more interactive and facilitate discussion. video and having people type themes into the chat worked. No problem.
