For the past five years, I’ve been an adjunct professor at Middlebury College in Monterey teaching a graduate course called “ Networked International Organizations ” for students pursuing an advanced degree in International Development. That’s why I always enjoy teaching in flexible classroom spaces.

The flexible classroom is a large open space.

They are also working on software that uses this approach in the classroom and takes the passivity and lectures out of classroom instruction. In the 60 minutes piece, it is referred to the flipped classroom or peer instruction a mindset that directs attention away from teachers and puts it squarely on the students and their learning.

I also taught networked leadership workshops as part of a larger team working with different social change networks. I produced four “ Advanced Practices Webinars ” for the Knight Foundation for Giving Days hosts.
