For my 50th birthday, I held a 50th Birthday Card Photo Remix Contest on flickr and donated $50 the winner's favorite charity. If you're a blogger, you can run a comment for a donation contest. But in many places around the world, children can't attend school because there isn't a school building, teachers, or supplies.

John Center for Homeless Men recently did their own virtual house party peer-to-peer event called Raisin’ the Rent , with some of their participants raising over $10,000 in their house party. For instance, the Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity hosted a wildly successful Gingerbread Home Build contest, bringing in 132% over their goal.
