When a participatory activity is designed without a goal in mind, you end up with a bunch of undervalued stuff and nowhere to put it. This works best when: Visitors have a clear understanding of the overall goal for the project. The collective outcome (a cool music video) is clear. That's hardly revolutionary.

As artistic director Abe Burickson described their work to me, I imagined Theseus walking deeper into the labyrinth towards the Minotaur. He spoke of the audience as providing a challenge, a challenge like any other artistic constraint. The goal was not that Christina should like John Cage. The experience was powerful for her.

Forum One partnered with the Museum to launch their new brand to the world. This work not only included launching a new website but also revitalizing the American Jazz Museum brand as a whole. This beautifully designed branding and website won five awards this year! This work won a silver Davey Award for Education!

Forum One worked with SLAC to create a Drupal site that achieved all of these goals and more. We partnered with the Museum to launch their new brand to the world.

On June 4, we opened The Tech Virtual Test Zone , a new 2000 sq ft gallery at The Tech Museum of Innovation featuring exhibits on the theme of art, film, and music that were originally developed in Second Life by a community of creative amateurs.
