As a relative newbie here at Forum One, I wasn't sure what to expect when as I headed to my very first "unconference." The unconference was about connecting government managers and staff, public engagement experts, online tool developers, and citizens to encourage shared insights, decisions, and actions in government.

On 8.16.08, the Museum of Art and History (Santa Cruz, CA) hosted FreelanceCamp, a free unconference that brought 150 designers and techies from the south bay area together to talk shop. I was at the last of these three events--the unconference in Santa Cruz. Heck, it doesn't even attract the museum exhibit designers.

He said this is data that police departments around the country are tracking, but it is not made publicly available. This inclusive spirit was also reflected in the structure of the event itself.
