One of the first projects I was assigned to after joining Candid (then Foundation Center) was the guide on participatory grantmaking, now a seminal work in the growing body of literature on participatory grantmaking.

Every non-profit works with “systems” – internal ones relating to how work gets done, issue systems relating to the topic that the NGO is working to address, and mental model systems about strategy.
