Crowdfunding platforms collect data and feedback from users to refine their models and policies. This feedback influences how they implement tipping and other features, but they don’t share that data publicly; it’s proprietary to the specific platform. What happens when marketing evolves from broadcast to conversation, fundraising changes from large donors to e-microdonations, or collaboration moves from sweaty basements to vast social networks?

In as little as 30 seconds, you just visited four different platforms, engaged with potentially hundreds of people, and didn’t stop once to think about what you were doing. From there, you may click on a news article that a friend posted and then tweet it out using the embedded sharing options.
