In 2009 , students built a participatory exhibit from scratch. Thirteen students produced three projects that layered participatory activities onto an exhibition of artwork from the permanent collection of the Henry Art Gallery. This post shares my reflections on the projects and five things I learned from their work.

I personally really like any activism that includes individual expression like this (like www.sorryeverybody.com ) If someone gets out the crayons and makes a sign, they are definitely engaged in your cause. In 2008, the conversation started shifting to "how" and "what."

I'd say that these techniques support audience development, repeat visitation, membership, maybe could even attract new kinds of donors. We just started to try to live up to that vision, partnership by partnership, activity by activity. but I didn't have numbers to back it up. Or at least preliminary ones. Community response.
