We are based in Oakland, but we do work nationally, and in many cases globally, but our funding is always under constraints. I grew up in Florida in a pretty narrow-minded, and very closed South Asian community. It just seems like such a mind-leap for people to make. I ended up in it from way back, from where I grew up.

One of the things for me, in going to protests and demonstrations about different issues, is that I felt that the protests were really boring, dry and preachy, not fun and compelling.
