Heck, I even learned about a 17th century German drinking game. While in the American Portrait Gallery, we played a game called Matchmaker Matchmaker. It’s made the museum experiences I facilitate more enjoyable, longer-lasting, and much more meaningful. Here’s an example that I experienced on that first tour of the Met.

This creates a dependency where visitors only experience the communal relationship if it is facilitated by staff. For example, winners of the Museum's "name that zoom" Twitter game now receive a personalized thank you in the (snail) mail from Beck, along with tickets to the museum and a silly prize related to the nature of the game.

Pressing the buttons was not particularly thrilling, and I never saw kids playing the usual bang-on-the-buttons game. Right now, Free2choose is a game that illuminates diversity of opinion on tough issues. It could become a game that encourages people to talk with each other about these issues. But it could go further.

The Structure Lab is set up as a "game" in which you explore cards in various categories (values, assets, financing, etc.) This relationship bit helped me think about how different kinds of folks will be involved with a highly participatory, community-co-created project in the long-term.
