It's structured as an unconference, where the 300 or so folks showing up design the conference program of roughly 70 sessions in about an hour the first night. This actually works out fine, but don't expect to be doing PowerPoint out there! I just got back from Foo Camp 2009, which was a blast as usual.

As a relative newbie here at Forum One, I wasn't sure what to expect when as I headed to my very first "unconference." The unconference was about connecting government managers and staff, public engagement experts, online tool developers, and citizens to encourage shared insights, decisions, and actions in government.

On Thursday, I attended the unconference/open space portion of SOCAP09 (Social Capital Markets 2009). I found a few tech sessions that were relevant to the purposes of TechSoup, and as is always the case, I collected the business cards of some intelligent people doing good work. It's the end of the summer, which means we are sadly bidding farewell to our fabulous summer interns, getting lonely and scared about how we will possibly do amazing work in the coming months without their brilliance, ingenuity, and creativity. I'm particularly excited about two internships that relate to participatory exhibition design.
