Of course libraries are all about education in its various forms. PowerMyLearning is a new, free online resource that has educational games, videos, and other activities for elementary, middle-school, and high school-aged students. There are now a dizzying array of online resources in this area. I think I may have a lead for you.

Similar to the funders in my previous post on education , the organizations listed below focus their efforts on activities inside and outside of the classroom. The Lisa Libraries. They focus funding on organizations that work on financial literacy for elementary and high school students (established programs only). First Book.

However, with a read-a-thon fundraiser, you can give your supporters the opportunity to slow down and crack open a book while also teaching young students the value of reading and escaping into exciting stories. As part of the Transforming Communities project, we had the opportunity to explore apps targeted toward youth as well as apps developed by youth. The app was a finalist in Microsoft's 2011 Imagine Cup, a student technology competition. Microsoft partnered with Facebook and Washington State to develop the MyVote Facebook app.

The main goal of visiting Micronesia is for me to gain a real-world perspective on schools and books for students with disabilities. The classrooms have doors that open to the outside, because of the warm weather. Most classrooms have desks and textbooks and all have chalkboards. Instead of windows, they have heavy screens.
