They walk dogs at your animal shelter, ask for donations on your behalf, and spend their Saturday afternoons tutoring students. When someone is willing to donate an hour of their time, a nonprofit is able to save money while getting the assistance they need to move their work forward.

But donating money to a charity, even a small amount (or in-kind items ) can certainly help with part of the need and raise awareness in others. Ask people to donate to a cause instead of gifts. An important aspect of this is the opposite question: why do people stop making donations? We tune into causes through our relationships with others, whether its a kid from our neighborhood in a youth group, our sister doing a breast cancer run, or our friend organizing a reading night at a homeless shelter. For organizations, web stats are useful indicators of how many people are being reached by their message, the geographical spread of the visitors and whether or not a specific campaign was successful in driving traffic or creating actions (like donations, or letters, etc.) And, I actually hope that doesn’t change.

You don't want to write about everything, because then people won't find you in the same way as when they search on Google about "homelessness issues", or "the environment." The place where we get out bamboo in China, they had floods last year so we started donating 20% of our proceeds back to them so they could rebuild their factories.
