Let's say your organization has a mission to increase X (art, healthy kids, clean water, community cohesiveness, etc.). Relative to other museums, I think we spend less time producing an "onstage" experience and more time collaborating with community organizations behind the scenes to empower them to produce.

Five years later, project director Dr. Piotr Bienkowski's final report for Our Museum tells a different story. This made the work more urgent, fragile. and realistic.

Erickson founded FORGE (Facilitating Opportunities for Refugee Growth and Empowerment) in 2003 when she was a 20 year-old junior studying public policy at Stanford University. The projects can range from preschools, to libraries and computer training centers, to women empowerment programs. We have the opportunity to fail.

It's a model to show other people how to work together in community, how to collaborate ideas, how to create a vision, and then how to work towards that vision coming more from a truth and love aspect, than from fear and attachment. Not only are the kids getting educated, but they're also being introduced into their cultural arts again.
