I was able to raise $2,500 in 90 minutes at Gnomedex. Right before Thanksgiving, the TweetsGiving effort helped Epic Change raise over $10,000 in 48 hours to build a classroom in Tanzania seeking $10 donations. Last August, I saw the impact of Twitter's velocity first-hand with a fundraising experiment.

Having project managed TechSoup Global's 2012 Global Cloud Computing Survey , I can heartily agree with that. Our App It Up project is a great place to see what is going on with apps and to find app resources for nonprofits and libraries. Money raised on crowdfunding sites is estimated to be 91 percent higher than 2011.

Blogging for Chickens by ProBlogger : Darren Rowse celebrated ProBlogger's second birthday by raising $1100 (AU), or about $830 US, to buy 110 pairs of chickens for impoverished families via Oxfam Australia.
