In less than 24 hours, I've raised $806 to help children in Cambodia using a new feature in Facebook Causes. My kids have posed for photos in t-shirts , emptied their piggy banks , helped me make fundraising videos , contributed clothing or other items to drives at school, and have attended lots of fund raising events.

Oxfam America won the “Advocacy Campaign” prize for their campaign to persuade Starbucks to let Ethiopia use the trademarked phrase “Ethiopian Coffee” in selling their own coffee. The campaign attracted 96,000 participants, and Starbucks did eventually change their policy, thereby benefiting poor farmers in Ethiopia.

In 2008, even more people joined and raised over $1 million for clean water projects in Ethiopia. Since then, over 10,000 individual fundraisers have raised more than $11 million – including over $1 million for Central African Republic as part of the 2010 September Campaign to bring clean water to all of the Bayaka people.
