When he told me the name of his program, I got excited because I had done a lot of research and writing about “ PhilanthroKids ” and he mentioned he was inspired in part by that post. He has taken the idea and created an amazing program. Founded in 1960, it has more than 30,000 members in over 240 chapters around the world.

Remind donors when it’s time to renew or fulfill a pledge. For example, at one organization where I worked, customer service was a full chapter in the employee handbook and people, with great pride, really took it to heart. . Share details about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

I like to think of it this way: Organizations may have the research or data, the capacity and staff, to identify problems and opportunities, to build messages, calls to action and campaigns. So they provide the examples and maps, but they let the youth pick and pledge whatever it is they want to do to make a difference.

A little known fact is that, before starting Convio, I was exploring three very different concepts: yield management for airlines; supply chain management for the automotive parts industry; and nonprofit fundraising after participating in a PBS pledge drive. I travelled the country speaking at every nonprofit conference that would have me.

And she also serves on her home chapter of AFP which we always we appreciate. So like, if I’m asking for a multi-year pledge, I might have questions around, how can I pay that pledge? And then we also will put together kind of like a prospect research snapshot on who you’re asking and what you’re asking for.
